Julia Garimoth (ed.)Anni et Josef Albers, l'art et la vie
The catalogue of the exhibition dedicated to the pioneering couple of 20th century modernism. Josef and Anni Albers met in the early 1920s at the Bauhaus school in Germany and married in 1925. Although the two artists inspired each other, they never collaborated on an artistic level. Beyond the comprehensive presentation of their respective creations, this is the first exhibition in France dedicated to the couple formed by the two artists. It is indeed this intimate and very complicit bond that has enabled them, throughout their lives, to support and strengthen each other, in a permanent and respectful dialogue. Not only did they produce a body of work that is now considered the basis of modernism, but they also imbued a whole new generation of artists with their educational values.
