David SauveurJerusalem, To the Last Path
At the end of the 1990s, David Sauveur was a photojournalist accustomed to the chaos of history and internationally recognized. When he discovers Jerusalem, it is for other reasons: no longer to denounce the violence of men, but to feel their need for beauty. For five years, through a meditative immersion in the depths of the thousand-year-old city, he collected the material for To The Last Path with Polaroid. The result is a series of subtle photographs, all slow and delicate, carried by a rare intelligence of the plurality and contradictions of the city of three religions. This book, accompanied by a text by historian Vincent Lemire, presents for the first time the work of David Sauveur, whose career was interrupted by an assault in August 2011.
