Marie-Hélène DumasKate Millett: Pour une Révolution Queer et Pacifiste

10 EUROS

“Freedom is our culture, silence our shame. Artist, essayist, novelist, Kate Millett (1934-2017) is a major – and often forgotten – figure of the second wave of American feminism, alongside Betty Friedan, Shulamith Firestone, Angela Davis or Gloria Steinem. While building a body of work in the visual and literary arts, she fought with women and sexual minorities, against racism, war, personal and institutional violence, homophobia and the confinement she herself had experienced. In 1970, Sexual Politics, a pioneering work of feminist theory, made her famous. She used her writing rights to make a film and buy a farm in Poughkeepsie, New York, where she later established a utopian community of women artists. Here at last is the first biography of this friend of Simone de Beauvoir, written in the style of a novel by Marie-Hélène Dumas (Sylvia Pankhurst, feminist, anti-colonialist, revolutionary, Libertalia, 2019).
