What is gender in contemporary capitalism? This is the question that this collection invites us to answer, based on a theoretical approach inspired by feminism and Marxism. It is a question of thinking, from a systematic analysis of the role played by domestic work and gender violence in our economic system, of a mode beyond exploitation, and thus of gender and its constraints. A communism in the present, which takes up all these questions, too often ignored in the history of the workers’ movement. Jeanne Neton and Maya Gonzalez participate in the American journal Endnotes, of which this volume is the first French translation. They place themselves in the tradition of Italian autonomous feminism (Silvia Federici, Leopoldina Fortunati or Mariarosa Dalla Costa come to mind) to propose an original and stimulating contribution.
