“Lux in Tenebris” is an unprecedented and intimate sea voyage. The author, Vincent Jendly, a photographer, embarked on five merchant marine cargo ships to experience his ambivalent relationship with water, developed after having escaped drowning as a child. Here, in the strange world of large cargo ships, night is hostile: in the deepest darkness, when the weather is overcast and the ship disappears completely, nothing distinguishes it from the water, and the invisible sea becomes even more abysmal.
