Written by a teacher at the Ecole d’ameublement de Paris, this educational manual answers the questions of cabinetmakers who have to design, draw and build their furniture. It covers the traditional skills of cabinetmaking through the structural elements of furniture: legs and uprights, crosspieces, tops and bases. For each of these categories, numerous models in a variety of styles are presented.
The construction of some of them is then explained step by step, to help you understand how to overcome the technical difficulties encountered in the design, layout and assembly stages. The models are inspired by both classical and contemporary cabinet-making. So, depending on the circumstances, orders, tastes or developments in the trade, the reader will be free to imagine other aesthetic or technical proposals.
