A passion for drawing : The Guerlain collection from the Centre Pompidou
Published for the exhibition ‘A Passion for Drawing’ held at the Albertina Museum in 2019, this catalogue groups works collected by Florence and Daniel Guerlain, whose interest since the 1990s focused on contemporary drawing. 2013 saw this couple donate part of their collection—totaling 1,200 drawings—to the Centre Pompidou in Paris. The exhibition at Albertona presented 20 artistic positions that are among the main protagonists in the current drawing discourse. The works are partly abstract and conceptual, move narratively between reality and fiction, relate to mythology, culture or art history, to people and their identity, are critical of society and deal with categorizations and systematizations.
