Benoît Toqué’s singular humour can be found as much in the grotesque situations he stages as in his use of words, his ability to express obscenity and hatred with delicacy, kindness and courtesy. He uses it in this collection of narrative texts that revolve around the narrowness of a Parisian dwelling and the daily life of its occupant. The author plays with the different registers and each chapter gives rise to a drama, a conflict, a tension caused by this unbearable proximity.
