Tove JanssonLes aventures de Moomin : La comète arrive
A stormy night sees a Muskrat disembark at the Moomin house. This very philosophical rat prophesies the end of the world. The next day, however, the valley is covered with gray dust: will a comet arrive, will it touch the earth? Moomin and Sniff ventured into the Lonely Hills to reach the Observatory and find out.
In a pre-apocalyptic climate, Moomin, his family and friends will each face the threat of the end of the world, and each will react in their own way. Then unfolds a fresco of touching characters, with different emotions and characters, who will approach with philosophy, or not, the possibilities that the prospect of an end brings.
Here is a funny book, beautifully illustrated by Tove Jansson, but a book which questions ecology, consumerism, generosity, a book which makes one think and which, although written in 1964, brings into play all the dramas of our time. Tove Jansson knew how to write stories that honor the intelligence of children and promote emotion, difference and tolerance as well as the importance of tenderness and simplicity. A classic of children’s literature.
