First publication of the essay of the Spanish architect Elisa Valero Ramos.
In “The Diamond Theory” the architectural project is considered in its practical as well as theoretical dimension. Critical thinking and creation are inseparable here. The work of the architect is compared to that of the diamond cutter, and the thinking is based on three axes of reflection: the attentive eye, the precision of the cut, and the risky work. Seven works of architecture, seven ‘diamond spaces’, illustrate this theory.
Elisa Valero Ramos won the 2016 arcVision prize in Milan and was the first woman to win the Swiss Architectural Award (2018). She also won the international mention for the Prix des Femmes Architectes in Paris (2019).
