Michel NadaïPeinture Décorative, art et technique
“This book presents the work and technique of the decorative painter. The methods used are similar to those used in the Fine Arts, but the aim remains essentially decorative. The decorative painter is not an artist, but a craftsman making beauty. Decorative painting often uses and the muralist must be a virtuoso in his own way so that the viewer can distinguish a walnut burl from a mahogany, a yellow Sienna marble from a sarrancolin. The technique of imitating materials, marble, wood, semi-precious stones or tortoiseshell, is presented in a step-by-step manner that describes the tools used and details the methods of execution. The art of trompe-l’oeil is approached through the study of light and shadow, false moulding and stylish ornamentation. The panoramic wall decoration is studied through perspective, the composition of the image, its values and contrasts, the choice of colours. Numerous examples of the author’s work illustrate his point.
Public: muralists, apprentices or experienced professionals, lovers of painted decor who want to learn about the profession and its technique.”
