Hardcore Fanzine Good and Plenty, 1989-1992
‘Good and Plenty’ reflected and embodied the technology of a brief period between the late 1980s and early ’90s. This book looks at seven issues of the fanzine through the lens of graphic design and typography. Contributions from graphic designers, educators, and hardcore punk enthusiasts trace the history of zines and photoduplication, while also addressing how zine-making created community and alternative social space in a pre-Internet era. A text by Walter Schreifels, musician and member of several of the bands from that period, places ‘Good and Plenty’ in historical context and highlights specific moments in the cultural and sonic landscape. With full reproductions of all seven issues.
