Saul LeiterAll about Saul Leiter
This book brings together the most important selection of photographs and paintings from the Leiter archive.
Born in 1923 and dying in 2016, Saul Leiter lived for more than 60 years on New York’s Lower East Side. His photographs, often taken while walking through his neighbourhood, never seem dated. From the 1950s to the 2000s, they have a discreet boldness that shows the front of the glass and what it reveals. Leiter looked at the furtive and intimate moments of everyday life with the eye of a painter. With an acute awareness of the transience of beauty, he created a poetry of the ephemeral that borders on the sublime.
