Bokkusu
“Sometimes a detail strikes me and I have to stop and observe it. I have a strong conviction that I must do something with it, a drawing or a text. These things are always changing, a few years ago it was the huts, then the maps, then the bridges. I like to work in series, because as I create my drawings, the true meaning of the project reveals itself to me”.
Here, Nigel Peake deploys a series of drawings of Japanese boxes (“Bokkusu”, derived from the English word “boxes”), and makes a form of homage to the care that the Japanese bring to packaging.
