Manuela MarquesEchoes of Nature

In recent years, Manuela Marques has developed photographic and video works around manifestations of natural phenomena. She has spent time on several islands in the Azores archipelago in order to work on tellurism and volcanism, which are particularly present in this region of the world. Her photographic and video works are based on observations and visual experiments, as in the case of her polyptych Topography, which she produced on the site of a volcanic eruption on the island of Faial (Capelinhos). Her work is also based on scientific archives (the Records series for example or the video installation RAS).
