Raymond DepardonEntre-Temps
Through a body of work produced between 1979 and 2006, Entre-temps celebrates the suspended moments of the Magnum photographer between two trips around the world, the power of Raymond Depardon to project the details of his daily life to make them resonate in our own. For him, the “In-between” is a space of freedom in which time dissolves and in which he photographs, without any specific goal, his encounters with Parisian street scenes, moments of life in cafés, parks… Places populated by anonymous people who bear witness to an urban loneliness that is intimately felt. Each image becomes a unique story with cinematographic accents.
As Serge Toubiana points out in his text, this set of photographs reveals: “the photographer’s imagination [which] is populated with images already made, [of] mental images that constitute a back-world from which he draws his inspiration, to continue to live and work. To have the eye.”
