“Failles formulates the exploration and introspection of a territory. A poetic journey on the island of Kyushu, a volcanic region constantly navigating between brilliance and appeasement. From this, portraits were born and the expression of the landscape in front of these characters revealed new forms, links were drawn, the creations became organic and the territories personified, transporting us into a sensorial narrative. Pictorial and sculptural, these analogies respond to each other like spaces of emotions, colours and forms.”

After photographing the island of Kyushu during a residency in Japan in 2015, photographer Laura Bonnefous discovered a collection by the designer Issey Miyake, which she also decided to photograph. A new narrative is created, weaving links between man and the earth and revealing the complexity of our flaws.
