The empty house fascinates because its inhabitants no longer live there. Like a movement or an invitation to reconstitute the before and after, it makes possible a process of memory that is particularly conducive to photographic work. Layers of wallpaper of all fashions and tastes, worn curtains, an unsettled wardrobe, lonely chairs, a fly swatter, a mosquito net, and doors and windows, open or closed, blocking or letting in the omnipresent light, form this pastel décor in which a distant memory presides over the photographic moment.
