Noah Van SciverFante Bukowski, l'œuvre complète
A self-proclaimed romantic figure, Fante Bukoswki has occupied the backyard of the American literary scene since the day he woke up with a hangover in a seedy Denver motel. The man who will never be the author of the “Great American Novel” is nevertheless a fascinating character in his indifferent mediocrity. In search of permanent recognition, his tumultuous existence is made of embarrassing tribulations that have deeply offended the small world of publishing.
Yet this virtuoso of incompetence was not destined to spend his entire life in the rejects’ lounge. In truth, Kelly Perkins, his real name, rejected the path that was set out for him to live the bohemian life and forever embody the myth of the cursed writer. It was therefore time to pay tribute to this truculent pen that perfectly combines pathological frustration and grandiloquent narcissism.
It is thanks to this fetish character, who appeared for the first time in 2015, that the young Noah Van Sciver became known to the French-speaking readership. If his fictional double will always remain a failure, he eventually got published and is now considered across the Atlantic as one of the most influential authors of the current independent comics. In a large format, Fante Bukowski – L’Ouvre complète – gathers the three volumes of the series in a revised translation, prefaced by Alex W. Inker and expanded with previously unpublished material.
