Fonds Helene Et Edouard Leclerc Françoise Pétrovitch
This monograph is published by the Fonds Hélène & Edouard Leclerc de Landerneau on the occasion of the major exhibition devoted to Françoise Pétrovitch. A true reference work, the book, each chapter of which opens with the artist’s own words, retraces her entire career in a chrono-thematic manner, revealing images of the workshops and works never shown or produced for the exhibition. Numerous writings by specialists in the history of art and even by the novelist Marie Darieussecq, who has written a previously unpublished text for the occasion, are included. Accompanied by some 200 illustrations, they echo the richness of Françoise Pétrovitch’s work and techniques: paintings, sculptures, drawings, ceramics, prints and videos. Through the artist’s recurring images or “motif-traits” (hands, closed eyes, hybrid, fragile characters, children or animals, etc.), it is a work on the gaze that is discovered and offers us her interpretation of the world.
A work of contemporary art that cannot be ignored.
