“This monograph brings together a decade of Julia Rommel’s pictorial obsessions, with texts by the artist and Rebecca Bengal.

Julia Rommel is an American abstract painter whose work bears references to the canons of art history (notably the Abstract Expressionists and European masters such as Matisse) as well as to her own processes of creation, construction and deconstruction. Her research, which aims to distance the artist’s own signature in order to insist on the objectivity of the work, also deals with the conflicts between colours and the mutual neutralisation of tones.”
