Alexandre Dimos, Francine Foulquier, Victor GuéganLa fabrique de Fanette Mellier
“The author of more than ten books, Fanette Mellier has been exploring the possibilities offered by printing in her work as a graphic designer for almost twenty years. Each of her works experiments with new techniques (use of white or phosphorescent inks, overprinting, etc.) and proposes a new way of conceiving the book as an object. The manipulation of letters and the drawing of characters, but also the work of paper and colour are thus placed at the centre of her creative work. Fanette Mellier has been working as a freelance graphic designer since 2005 and has also carried out various commissions for institutions such as the National Museum of Natural History, the Centre Pompidou and the Ministry of Culture.
In this interview, structured in three chapters on her work as a typographic designer, author and graphic designer, Fanette Mellier looks back on her rich and eclectic career. She reveals her working methods, her artistic affiliations and offers an analysis of her practice halfway between illustration and graphic design.
La Fabrique de Fanette Mellier, the first book in the Prisme collection, brings together interviews conducted by Alexandre Dimos (graphic designer and publisher), Francine Foulquier (exhibition curator) and Victor Guégan (art historian).”
