Geoffroy MondeLa Voix De Zazar
A moment of great anxiety for Carol on the cruise ship Bron-825: Carol wakes up alone, desperately alone. Where has the whole crew gone, especially his wife Sonia? To ease the loneliness, and because his mind is seriously starting to wander, Carol starts a dialogue with Frank, or at least his frozen corpse that he found in a medical fridge on the ship… A rather nice corpse which will also serve as a food reserve for an increasingly tormented Carol, and on the verge of a slow but irreversible transformation, while waiting for an eventual rescue. A surprising science-fiction tale, The Voice of Zazar skilfully combines suspense, horror and zany humour, and thus moves with the greatest fluidity from one register to another. Geoffroy Monde, without ever getting lost, skilfully revisits a great fantasy myth while taking us on a tour of the twists and turns of a disturbed and schizophrenic mind, all in a futuristic setting that mixes familiar and unusual elements. It’s funny, rhythmic, clever, full of invention, and simply fascinating to read from beginning to end.
