Benjamin PéretLes couilles enragées
This tale of frenetic, surreal eroticism, in which parrots, watches and mirrors are seized with genesic fury, has a strange history of its own. It was to have been published in 1928 by the underground publisher René Bonnel (like Bataille’s L’histoire de l’œil and Aragon’s Le con d’Irène), but its first sheets were seized by the police, preventing its publication. It was not until 1954 that a first edition was published by Éric Losfeld, under the pseudonym Satyremont and the title Les rouilles encagées.
The present edition therefore returns Benjamin Péret’s book to its original title. The large drawing by Yves Tanguy planned in 1928 having disappeared, Killoffer gives here his very free interpretation.
