Yves KleinLes éléments et les couleurs
In 1961, Yves Klein wrote in his Manifesto of the Hotel Chelsea “the trace of the immediate in natural objects, whatever the incidence”. This trace, he has never ceased to pursue. “Painter of space” and “explorer of the void”, he made utopia one of the foundations of his art. For him, the four elements of earth, water, air and fire are essential sources of art and color is its revealer. For the first time, this book brings together Cosmogonies, Fires, Feux Colors, Planetary Reliefs, monochromes, Architecture of the air and intangible works. This new approach is based on the analysis of Klaus Ottmann, a specialist in the work of Yves Klein, who reconsiders Yves Klein’s approach in the light of his conception of the world and of ancient philosophies on the notion of nature and of cosmos. This publication is an opportunity to rediscover, through a transversal and thematic vision, the work of Yves Klein who appears today as one of the precursors of Land art, Arte povera and Conceptual Art. This book accompanies the Yves Klein exhibition, elements and colors, presented at the Domaine des étangs in Massignac from June 25, 2020 to January 29, 2021.
