Monique WittigLes Guérillères
As long as there have been men and they have been thinking, they have each written history in their own language: in the masculine. “If the qualified words are of different genders, the adjective is put in the masculine plural” (Grévisse).
The Guerillères are written as a collective subject in the third person feminine plural. In the gaps in the masterly texts we have been given to read so far, snippets of another text appear, the negative or rather the reverse of the first, suddenly revealing a strength and violence that long centuries of oppression have made explosive.
