Making and Matching, Paul Cox & Bonnefrite : Graphure et Peintrisme n°3

The multidisciplinary Marseille based publisher Fotokino is releasing the third opus of the review articulated by Benoit Bonnemaison-Fitte, this time in collaboration with the great Paul Cox. Designed in September 2020, while they were refining the contours of their “Making and Matching” exhibition at Espal – Scène nationale du Mans. It contains sixteen of the fifty or so drawings made a few hours before the opening by the two artists – with a small contribution from Geoffroy Pithon, a Riso notebook composed of an alphabet of shapes taken from the artists’ archives, and a journal retracing in words and in photographs this week of residency during which an exhibition was created within the theater space, with four hands. The two friends describe their process and references, with simplicity, intelligence and generosity. A nice object as the result of a great initiative.
