Mentors : céramistes et enseignants en Belgique

This book accompanies the exhibition Mentors: Ceramists and Teachers in Belgium, organised in 2023 by BeCraft, in partnership with Keramis – Centre de la Céramique de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles. This book, like the exhibition, brings together sixty-six ceramist-teachers who have left their mark on the history of ceramics teaching in Belgium, as well as on its artistic practice. The central question of transmission is revealed in the form of a genealogy in which past and present are articulated through a territorial network covering the territory of Belgium, from the 20th century to the present day. The testimonies of the thirteen artists interviewed by curators Kris Campo and Ludovic Recchia, rich in anecdotes, highlight profound reflections on the status of teachers, artists and ceramics.

Dit boek hoort bij de tentoonstelling Mentors: Keramisten en leermeesters in België, georganiseerd in 2023 door BeCraft, in samenwerking met Keramis – Centrum van de Keramiek van de Federatie Wallonië-Brussel. Dit werk, net als de tentoonstelling, brengt zesenzestig keramiekdocenten samen die hun stempel hebben gedrukt op de geschiedenis van het keramiekonderwijs in België, evenals op de artistieke beleving ervan. De centrale vraag van de kennisoverdracht wordt onthuld in de vorm van een genealogie waarin heden en verleden worden verbonden, in een vlechtwerk doorheen gans België, vanaf de 20e eeuw tot op heden. De curatoren Kris Campo en Ludovic Recchia hebben dertien kunstenaars geïnterviewd; hun getuigenissen zijn rijk aan anekdotes en belichten diepgaande reflecties over de status van docenten, kunstenaars en keramiek.
