“Inspired by the azulejos in Lisbon’s metro stations, Cristina Da Silva creates grids, sometimes from Penrose’s paving stones, sometimes from the tile. On these mathematical patterns appear figures of felines in motion. The cat, serving as a leitmotif for the Geneva artist, crosses the geometric spaces, dances and metamorphoses into a supple gesture that frees the hand and gives birth to the drawing page after page.
Cristina Da Silva’s choreographic line, with pen or brush, dilates the senses and seems to stimulate hearing as well as sight in the discovery of landscapes that are both visual and musical.”
