The first reference work in French on this great Czech illustrator. Born in Prague in 1935, Jirí Šalamoun explored many fields of art: illustration, painting, animation, typography, poetry, etc. He studied at the Fine Arts in Prague in the 1950s and then joined the University of Arts and Illustration in Leipzig. In the 60s, he published many books, for children and adults. The 1970s were those of experiments in animation, the most famous of which was the Médor le Maxichien series. He has received over 50 international awards and was nominated in 2010 for the Andersen Prize.
