Sigurd Lewerentz - A Trip to Italy

The Swedish architect Sigurd Lewerentz left behind a box of negatives as a record of his stay in Italy, which is now kept in the Museum of Architecture in Stockholm. Although the locations of these photographs are not all clearly identifiable, they nevertheless provide a visual archive of the architect’s inspirations. By focusing on the details, materials and textures of these ancient remains, Sigurd Lewerentz also gives us some keys to understand his architectural work.
