Claudia den BoerTo pick up a stone
Fascinated by the notion of space, both personal and intimate as well as open, vast and elusive, the young Dutch photographer set out on a journey through mountainous and rocky landscapes. From the Moroccan Sahara to the Georgian Caucasus, via the Tibetan highlands and the mysterious Montserrat in Catalonia, Claudia den Boer collected and photographed stones from these landscapes where rock and mountain are one. On her return, the photographer went back to the heart of her stones and the analogue photographs she had taken of them, revealing new landscapes. Playing on notions of scale, perspective and spatiality, “To pick up a stone” presents her work as geological as poetic.
