Events : Book launch

Join us on Thursday 27 June, from 6-9pm, at the Peinture Fraîche bookshop, to meet Pierre Toussaint and Joseph Hogan. They will be presenting the book project.

The book renews the narrative and visual universe of Plus si entente. This book is a very large-format, 256-page playground where comics and contemporary art, ceramics, sculptures, ready-mades, watercolours and burlesque strips meet… The multiplicity of forms of expression and total freedom of tone create a unique adventure for aesthetes in search of subtle and licentious experiments, a book for the naughtiest coffee tables…

Behind every detail of a hushed garden lies an intimate story, a wonderful tale… or a farce. Authentic dating site replicas populate this boundless experiment, whose characters and drawn scenes always flirt with the grotesque and the larger-than-life.

From the candidates’ profiles to their efforts to dig her pool, La Mère sees and hears it all. Males in undies comb their hair, revise their declarations or exchange dubious jokes, compare anatomies and submit to her whims. The point of view shifts from one to the other, in a closed-door setting that exposes bodies, thwarted desires and bizarre personalities.
