Scénographie d'exposition - six perspectives critiques
Often mistaken for other fields to which it is related – such as architecture, theatre scenography or museography – exhibition scenography is, according to Arnaud Sompairac, a radically singular practice. This book attempts to identify and highlight its specific features.
In this perspective, numerous examples of exhibition design are cited and examined: from Paul Chemetov’s Grande Galerie de l’évolution to Daniel Libeskind’s Jewish Museum in Berlin, and Carlo Scarpa’s Sculpture Gallery at the Museum of Castelvecchio. The author uses these cases as a basis for critical reflection on the fundamental question of exhibition design: how can a narrative be incorporated into a space?
